Since moving to the lovely little town of Windsor, MA last December, I have been recording ambiences for several hours every week. Being nestled in the middle of Berkshire County, this town is an incredibly quiet place that makes for amazing nature recording.

As such, I decided to share the changing soundscapes of the region throughout the seasons with my local community on my new Sounds of Windsor page. This is a project that spawned out of a collaboration with the local Windsor Now and Then newsletter. Here, I will be uploading at least one new recording each month, alongside some helpful pointers describing what to listen for and a little backstory on how it came to be.

I won't be posting about each new contribution on my blog so make sure to bookmark this page if you'd like to unwind to 5-10 minutes of incredibly relaxing soundscapes each month.

As many of you know, a total solar eclipse is upon those of us living along its path stretching from northern Mexico up to Nova Scotia. I will be contributing to the Eclipse Soundscapes project which aims to study the effects of the eclipse on wildlife through sound recordings carried out over a 5-day period with the eclipse marking the midpoint.

Opportunities like this are a great reminder that your field recording skills often have applications reaching far outside the artistic realm, as many scientific projects incorporate sound recording and data crowdsourcing operations as more common than you might think.

I'm planning to write a little blog post about it once the project is through so look out for it in the coming weeks.

It is finally time. After months of juggling several projects at once and moving out to the Berkshires, my sound effects library captured during the August 2023 trip to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe is finally submitted to distributors. It will be available very soon and will be accompanied by a behind-the-scenes article.
